God Is Alive

You know, it’s funny how we are so blind sometimes to the way God is alive and constantly working around us…

I heard my mom telling this testimony (look below for a long detailed version) to my aunt on the phone, and I was like, hey I guess that really is a testimony of God’s Greatness… so i guess i shall blog that

So, more about the wedding, haha, jk, more about God actually:
1:30 AM – Leaving Philly after the wedding

1:35 AM – arguing w/mom that it’s not raining that hard, driving home now, she’s insisting that I rent out a hotel w/the 3 girls I’m driving back

1:35 – 2:45 AM – all the while, mom’s praying, in her half awake/half sleeping stage… and when she prays, oh man it’s funny… “God please let kim have a safe trip home, no flats, no dents, no tickets, no accidents, no dents on the front, no dents on the side, no dents on the right, on the back…” get the drift? Yea she really prays like that… ahaha

2:45 AM – pumping gas at the Holland tunnel (woops was I speeding?). calling mom to tell her I’ll be home in NO TIME!

3:00/4:00 AM – take your pick of the time, stupid daylight savings time… anywayz, driving along Queens Blvd… and then… WOAH! There’s this MONSTRUOUS, AND I MEAN MONSTRUOUS, HUMUNGO pothole thanks to the rainstorm…. Hmms car’s on my right, k-9’s on my left… uh oh, what to do what to do?!? SLAM On my brakes and brace for the worse… I hear this LOUD BAM!!! “Oh GOD!!! Pleeeeeease don’t let me get a flat”

3:05 AM – In front of friends apartment, taking a peeky at the car, all looks well.

3:06 AM – friends are worried, thinking I shouldn’t go home w/the car… they watch me drive away slowly down the street….

3:07 AM – friends screaming, “Noooo kim!!! U can’t go home!!! The car’s tire is making a hissing noise!” AIYAH!!! Noooooo I blew a flat….. the wheel/rim that was once so nicely round, is now a dome!!! One side is completely straight!!! SMASHED IN!

3:08 AM –“Uh mom, I don’t think I’m gonna be home so soon.” What do I do?!?! Change the tire, wait’ll morning and change the tire? But it’s hissing, by morning… I won’t have enough air to drive to the gas station to have them change it…. Mom's prayin... we're prayin... ack what do we do?!

3:10 AM – impulsive decision to change the tire… 4 girls, 2 of which are still in dresses because of the wedding…

3:15 AM – jacking up the car… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Car’s sliding forward!!! Oh… I parked on a downhill!!! Oh… I didn’t pull the handbrake!!! AHHH idiot me…

3:16 AM – lowered the car, hand brake up, jacked car up again, nuts are off

3:20 AM- trying to get the stupid spare on, but weak girls, dim lighting (cell phone is our lighting) really heavy tire…

3:45 AM - 1 sprained finger later (SORRY JENN YU!) and I’m back on the road!!! Praise God! Holy cow, did 4 girls just change a flat in the middle of the cold night?

3:50 AM – “mom, really I’m gonna be home soon” haha

4:15/5:15 AM – I’m finally home, and according to Mom, one of the first things I said was… “Wow, praise God, 4 girls just changed a tire really quickly”

So that’s 4 girls, one cold night, no rain anymore (Thank God), no freaky passer-bys as we change the flat, none of us get mugged/injured in the ghettos of Woodside, and one “flat” changed quicklky….

So amazingly, that’s not the end of the story…. Remember mom’s detailed prayers?

Monday – take the car to the mechanic, “Why’d your daughter change the tire? It’s not flat.” He hammers out the rim/wheel…

Tuesday – we don’t believe the mechanic, go to Costco to buy a new tire… Costco auto guy says, nothing’s wrong w/your tire, he puts it back on for us, and all is well, and we drive away… AHAHAHHAHA WOW!

God really is awesome!!! Yay for detailed prayers ahahahah too bad she didn’t say, no dents on the wheels! Haha jk It’s pretty amazing to me how God always answers our prayers… does this mean He will/will not do whatever pray for? No… of course we shouldn’t look at prayer that way… but I do believe He’s an AMAZING God who is watching over us and protecting us and definitely listening to our prayers.... and it's also only by His Spirit we are even able to pray the prayers we pray!

More eating! Here we are at Fat Toto's restaurant, for all us fobs that watch chinese videos, he's the fat guy that does the cooking shows on the videos.
The food was mad good here. Here's one of his specialties, i think it's called "Fatty oily rice" haha That bottle is filled with pure fatty oil. MMMMmmm You pour that and soy sauce over that white rice in the pot. YUM!!!
This yummy meal was all thanks to my mom's childhood friend, who had very interesting stories of how anally clean my mother used to be, who picked the restaurant. That cute chubby lil kid is her grand nephew who is only 4 years old!!!
